Artist's Comments

Well, i guess it's pretty straight forward... Inspired by various scenes or ideas from akira (both the manga and the anime). Done with Prisma Markers and Crayola Colored Pencils. The size is like 30" x 40" i think but it's pretty big.

oh...and no one notice that Akira has no face.

Nice use of color.
In particularly, how you used cooler colors in the foreground and warm colors in the far background, giving a nice sense of depth.

Rock on for using mixed media!
I find that colored pencils work great on top of marker!

You already know what I think of this, however, couldn't you at least cropped off the side of the pic? I can clearly see the floor of our apartment!

I especially like the title.

Haha thanks man, you know the best part....how all of that was very intentional...

...

but yeah i like using the markers with the colored pencils, especially cause i have a clear prisma marker that's great for blending colored pencils and smoothing them out.

Wow, you should see the things i DID crop out. Then you wouldn't be complaining (hint, the noodle incident...)

haha OOOOOOPPPPPPPPP!!!

Nice!

Glad to see you're studying color theory.

Another interesting thing about this: When creating atmospheric perspective using warm is cool colors is, warm colors tend to stand out above cool colors, so usually the warmer colors will be in the foreground. Here you've done the the opposite of that and were very successful.

oh haha i actually was being somewhat sarcastic... I actually know much about color theory at all! I do however know enough to not put warm and cool colors together which is why i made the sign cool and the background warm. Also Kaneda's bike was red so i figured a yellow blue would look better next to it. Thanks for the tips though on color theory, I'm definitely interested in learning more about it. I figure a google search will bring up some good websites.
